Welcome to UtahBizVisit.com
UtahBizVisit.com is devoted to helping you, the small business person, raise your head from the daily grind long enough to spot a few good ways to improve yourself and your company. We know that running a small business can suck you in so hard that it makes it seem impossible to work "on" your business when you are so busy working "in" your business. So, we've carved out 30 minutes each week to share useful business insights to help your business grow. UtahBizVisit.com is a service of the Utah Small Business Development Center at Snow College.
You'll pay nothing but 30 minutes of your time to join us for the weekly Biz Visit.
This is what Dr. Stephen R. Covey calles, "Quadrant Two Time!" The time matrix is divides everything you do into items of urgent verses non-urgent and important verses not important. Quadrant two is made of those items which are not urgent, but highly imporant. Neither a healthy diet or adequate exercise were urgent before the heart attack victim found himself on the ground... Now it's all urgent and important - they need triage. Business owners who ignore quadrant two (non-urgent, but highly important) activities find themselves constantly needing triage. They run around putting fires out all day. Conversely, those who spend a bit of tiem in quadrant two are much more able to lead their company. That's because quadrant two - which is the quadrant of planning, preparation and prevention - helps us avoid the other quadrants. Utah Bz Visits are all about helping you keep an eye on the horizon, see improvement ideas and understanding how to apply them - planning, preparation and prevention! To make the most of your experience with us we offer the following recommendations:
- Make time to join us often. It will only happen if you make the time for it.
- Seek every opportunity to learn from others in the visit. Relationships and business opportunities are borne of this type of interaction.
- Invite other key employees at your business to join you for Utah Biz Visit.
- View this not as "just a half an hour" but as the half an hour the helps you see the why's and how's of a few more hours of implementation time. Apply yourself (and other key employees) to implementing the good ideas you develop as you participate in the visit.
